Denver's Skin Experts, Now Seeing New Patients
Denver life happens a mile closer to the sun. At 5,280 feet, UV exposure is roughly 25% stronger than at sea level — and with some 300 sunny days a year, Colorado skin simply works harder. Regular skin checks aren’t a luxury here; they’re maintenance.
For nearly 20 years, Colorado Skin & Vein has cared for Denver-area skin. Our medical dermatology team brings that same expertise to skin checks, rashes, acne, and the everyday conditions most practices make you wait months to address — with clear answers, transparent pricing, and a treatment plan that starts the day you’re seen.

Dermatology shouldn’t come with billing mystery. Medical visits — skin checks, rashes, biopsies — are billed to insurance, and we accept most major plans and Medicare. We’ll tell you up front.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your Dermatology Questions Answered
How much does it cost to see a dermatology provider?
Medical visits are billed to your insurance like any specialist visit, so you’ll pay your usual copay or deductible amount. Self-pay patients and simple procedures like skin tag removal or cryotherapy have flat, transparent cash prices — you’ll always know the cost before treatment begins.
Do I need a referral to see a dermatology provider?
No. You can book directly with our dermatology team — no referral required. Most new patients are seen within the week.
Does insurance cover dermatology visits?
Medical dermatology — skin checks, rashes, acne, eczema, psoriasis, and suspicious moles — is covered by most insurance plans, and we accept most major plans and Medicare. Purely cosmetic services and some quick procedures are cash-pay, with prices published up front. We’ll verify your coverage before your visit.
How often should I get a skin check?
Most adults benefit from a full-body skin exam once a year. If you have a personal or family history of skin cancer, many moles, fair skin, or heavy sun exposure — common at Colorado altitude — your provider may recommend more frequent checks.
What skin changes are a red flag?
Watch for the ABCDEs of melanoma: Asymmetry, irregular Borders, multiple Colors, Diameter larger than a pencil eraser, and Evolving size or shape. A new spot, a sore that won’t heal, or a mole that itches or bleeds also deserves prompt evaluation.
How soon can I get an appointment?
In most cases, this week. Access is the reason we built our dermatology service — while many Denver dermatology offices book two to four months out, we hold time for new patients and same-week visits.
What happens at my first dermatology visit?
Your provider reviews your history and concerns, examines your skin, and explains what they see in plain language. Many treatments — biopsies, cryotherapy, skin tag removal, steroid injections — can be done during the same visit, so most patients leave with a plan already in motion.
