Titan Vs. Active FX For Skin Tightening?
Overall, the Active FX works better for skin tightening but both procedures have their advantages. The Titan uses a non-ablative infrared light to heat dermal collagen and causes both collagen contraction and new collagen deposition which helps tighten the skin. The Titan requires three procedures but there is little to no discomfort and zero downtime. Patients can expect about 5-10% tightening after each procedure which last for 1-2 years. The Active FX uses a CO2 laser to removal a small core of tissue (about 1 hair thick) which literal decreases the amount of skin. During a face lift approximately 30 square cm of skin are removed, during an Active FX procedure approximately 20-25 square cm of skin are removed. There is also a significant thermal effect from the Active FX which causes the tissue around the removal site to shrink and also stimulates new collagen deposition. Although there is very little discomfort most patient prefer to take between 5-7 days off before returning to social activities. A single Active FX treatment can tighten tissue from 10-35% depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment. Results last several years.

Can Permanent Makeup Be Removed?
It seems like every few years a new permanent makeup trend pops up that everyone is trying. The possibilities are endless, from permanent eyeliner to microblade eyebrows or even the most recent — tattooed lip color. But with these rapidly changing trends coming and going over time, many are left with outdated and faded makeup, leaving many with serious “buyer’s remorse.” But is permanent makeup correction possible? And if so, at what cost? Options for Permanent Makeup Removal 1. Be Patient The easiest option; wait it out. Faded microbladed eyebrows happen over time, and in some cases, many see changes and discoloration in their permanent tattoo over the course of 6-24 months due to the delicate nature of facial skin. Unfortunately, complete fading to the point where your makeup tattoo is no longer noticeable is not likely as tattoos often never fade, no matter how long you wait. 2. Tattoo Removal Creams Many have claimed that a tattoo removal cream is a great option as they have seen gradual fading in their permanent tattoos over time. However, no clinical studies have shown this to be true. It is more than likely that over time the tattoo will fade but never entirely. Because these creams only affect the upper layer of the skin (to incite peeling) there is never a complete reversal. The tattoo has permanently penetrated the deeper levels of the skin that the cream will not reach. If you decide to go this route, here are some options that many claim to help with removal: – DIY “made from home” scrub of Salt & Lemon – Rosehip Seed Oil massaged into the skin 3 times daily – Topical over-the-counter “fade” creams 3. Salt and Saline Treatments Many have sworn by the Salt and Saline treatment as they have claimed to see a difference in the appearance of their permanent makeup— especially for old faded microblading. The Salt and Saline treatment should only be performed by a skilled technician and not be confused with the vastly different “at-home scrub” methods. During your session, the technician will combine a salt and saline solution and insert it into the skin like an exfoliator. One session is equal to that of 2 months of exfoliation. The salt works to bind the permanent ink, bring it to the surface, and once scabbed, will remove the ink. Some call this method “Controlled Stabbing” and consider it an alternative to laser removal. However, this method has its risks. The constant repetitive stabbing and the acids within the salt can remove hair in the area affected (think eyebrows!) and can irritate the skin. With this method, there is also a risk of blistering, permanent scarring, and hyperpigmentation in the skin over time. 4. Laser Removal Considered the most effective method of permanent makeup removal, laser removal uses pulses of laser light to break up the ink under the skill then the cells absorb the molecules. Depending on the laser type (and your skin type), the results vary but consistently have been shown to be effective. However, for delicate areas like permanent makeup correction around the face, you will need to be more cautious due to the higher risk for damage. Some other things to keep in mind when using a laser for permanent makeup removal are the pigments used in makeup tattoos that differ and can affect the removal process. For example, lip pigments contain titanium oxide making the tattoo stand out more, meaning laser removal may turn the tattoo gray rather than removing it completely. This means you will need more treatments to completely remove the tattoo. Remember, results from any permanent makeup removal option will vary depending on a number of factors such as skin type, the healing process, original pigment quality, and proper aftercare. How Can You Prepare For Your CoolSculpting Treatment?
CoolSculpting is a simple (and painless) noninvasive procedure that destroys fat cells by freezing them. The treatment is straightforward, with no needles, incisions, or anesthesia. So, there isn’t much you need to do to prepare for your session. But you should keep a few things in mind as you near your appointment. How to Prepare for CoolSculpting Prepare your Skin. Because the procedure involves suctions and continual massaging, your skin needs to be as healthy and intact as possible to reduce potential irritation. Moisturize your skin weeks in advance to smooth out dryness for your future treatment. Avoid tanning and sunburns. (Think about a suction on a fresh burn — ouch!) Be mindful of physical activities that could cause scrapes, cuts, and bruises. (Your appointment could be delayed if your skin is too damaged.) Shave any body hair near and around the area that will be treated. Clean and remove any lotion from your skin directly before the treatment. Arrive Prepared. CoolSculpting treatments can last hours, so we advise you to eat a light meal or snack before and, of course, stay hydrated. Hydrating also helps the body remove toxins. Wear something comfy. Loose and comfortable clothes that are gentle on the skin are preferred. Keep in mind that you may get gel on your undergarments — consider bringing a change of clothes. Bring something to occupy your time. Again, you’ll be in a treatment bed for a couple of hours. Consider bringing headphones, a book, or think about bingeing your favorite shows while you are in your session. What Not to do to Prepare for Your CoolSculpting Treatment: 1. Don’t take medication/supplements that are considered blood thinners. Think anti-inflammatories, like aspirin or Advil. These should be avoided for at least one week before the procedure, as it increases your risk of bruising. 2. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoking. Unfortunately, smoking can slow your recovery process (and delay the results) so avoid smoking for at least a week before your session. Likewise, avoiding caffeine for two hours pre/post-treatment and alcohol an entire 24 hours before is recommended. Plan your social calendar accordingly. What to do After CoolSculpting Have Patience. As cliché as it sounds, all good things take time! You may see a difference in your body as early as two weeks, but your full results will take time, with the average results visible in three to four months. However, you’ll continue to excrete fat cells for up to three to six months after the procedures. Remember to take targeted photos of your progress throughout the process to see those before and after shots! Stay active and healthy. Your lifestyle and habits are contributing factors to your long-term success.The science is there; CoolSculpting does work! But your overall results will depend on you. Maintaining a healthy diet of vegetables, proteins, whole grains, and fruits, and exercising often will enhance your results! Consider additional treatments. After allowing your body time to heal (and seeing those results!), you may want to consider additional sessions. No, you won’t need follow-up treatments for the previously treated area, but you should consider if there are other areas, you would like to treat. What Not to do After CoolSculpting Don’t overdo it. Though noninvasive, keep in mind your body just went through a strenuous procedure and needs time to recover. You may be sore and should take time to rest. Pause the gym. You don’t want to irritate and ignite more soreness! Be gentle with your skin. When showering, take extra care around the affected area. Don’t expect results immediately. We already touched on this, but mentally prepare yourself to trust the process, and give your body time to heal.
