Kids Seen This Week

Pediatric Dermatology
in Denver

Molluscum, warts, eczema, ringworm, cradle cap, teen acne — the everyday skin conditions of childhood, treated gently and quickly, usually the same week you call. Pediatric specialty clinics often book out months. We do not.

About Pediatric Visits

Skin Care for Small Patients

A kids’ visit here is unhurried. Your child sits with you in the room, we explain what we are looking at in words a child can follow, and nothing happens before they know it is coming. Parents stay for the whole visit — there is no version of this where you wait outside.

When should you bring a child in? When bumps are multiplying, when a rash comes with a fever, when itching is costing everyone sleep, or when something on the face has you unsure. Plenty of childhood skin things do resolve on their own, and we will tell you honestly when waiting is the reasonable call. What we will not do is make you wait to find that out.

That is the part parents tell us matters most. Children’s specialty clinics in the metro routinely quote appointments a quarter out, which is a long time to watch bumps spread across a five-year-old. Our dermatology team usually has something this week — for the child, and for the rest of the family in the same practice.

Questions About Your Child's Skin? Ask Ava

Ava is our intelligent virtual assistant, available 24/7. Ask what those dimpled bumps probably are, whether molluscum needs treating or can be left alone, what cantharidin actually involves, or how soon we could see your child. Clear, helpful answers at 10pm when you are looking at a rash and wondering whether it can wait until morning.

When To Come In

When to Bring Your Child In

Most childhood skin conditions are harmless and many clear on their own. These are the situations where it is worth having our dermatology team take a look rather than waiting it out.

Pediatric Dermatology Services

At Colorado Skin & Vein, treatment is paced for a child rather than squeezed into an adult schedule. Our dermatology team explains first, treats gently, and sends you home with a plan you can actually run.

Gentle Cryotherapy

Warts and stubborn molluscum bumps treated with liquid nitrogen, dosed and paced for a child. We show your child what is going to happen before it happens, work in short bursts, and stop if they need a moment.

Cantharidin for Molluscum

The painless option, sometimes called beetle juice. A clear liquid is brushed onto each bump in the office and washed off at home a few hours later. Your child feels nothing during the application, and the bumps blister away over the following days.

Prescription Care

Eczema, ringworm, and acne regimens written for real households — what to apply, when, and what to do when a flare arrives on a Sunday night. Matched to your child’s age and to where the rash actually is.

Teen Skin Checks & Acne Plans

Teenagers get taken seriously here. We build an acne plan aimed at preventing scarring, and for a teen due for a first skin check, we can handle that in the same practice.

Common Questions

Parent Questions, Answered

What ages do you see?

We see children and teens for everyday skin conditions — molluscum, warts, eczema, ringworm, cradle cap, rashes, bites, and adolescent acne. If you are unsure whether your child’s age or situation is a fit, call the office and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Families often come in together, which is part of why parents like it: one practice for the kids, the teens, and the adults, with the same dermatology team.

Honest answer: both are reasonable, and it depends on your child. Molluscum does clear on its own, but that can take a year or more — and in the meantime the bumps often spread, sometimes to siblings, and kids start getting self-conscious about them.

We generally suggest waiting when there are only a few bumps in a covered spot and nothing bothers your child. We suggest treating when bumps are multiplying, itchy or irritated, on the face, or when your child has started hiding them. Cantharidin and gentle cryotherapy both work well, and we will walk through the trade-offs with you rather than deciding for you.

Our goal is that your child leaves without a bad memory of the visit. Cantharidin, the most common molluscum treatment, is completely painless to apply — the liquid goes on and your child feels nothing. Cryotherapy involves a brief cold sting, and we explain it first, do it in short bursts, and stop if your child needs a break.

Nothing gets sprung on a child here. We show them what we are going to do, tell them what it will feel like, and you stay in the room the whole time.

In most cases, yes. A visit for molluscum, warts, eczema, ringworm, an unexplained rash, or acne is a medical visit and is billed to your insurance. We accept most major plans.

If you would like to know what to expect before you come in, call the office with your plan details and we will walk you through the coverage side of it.

No. You can book directly with our office — no referral from your pediatrician and no primary-care visit first. Appointments are usually available within the same week.

Bring photos if the rash comes and goes, and a note of anything you have already tried at home. Both help us get to an answer in a single visit.

Angel Croce, Staff Manager at Colorado Skin & Vein in Denver

Angel Croce

Staff Manager

Angel has been in healthcare for more than 20 years. Her journey began in 2004, after her father suddenly passed away from a stroke. Losing him was a life-changing experience, and it inspired her to choose a career where she could help others and give patients and their families the care, compassion, and support they need during difficult times.

Throughout her career she has worked across cardiology, neurology, family practice, and urgent care — each experience helping her grow both personally and professionally. She now works in vascular care and aesthetics, where she enjoys building relationships with her patients, helping them understand their care, and making sure they feel comfortable and supported throughout their journey.

Outside of work, Angel is a proud mom of two. Family is incredibly important to her, and in her spare time she loves being outdoors with her husband and their two dogs — hunting, fishing, and enjoying Colorado.

For Angel, healthcare is more than a career — it is personal. What started as a way to honor her father’s memory has become more than two decades of caring for others, and she is grateful to keep doing something that means so much to her every day.
