What Causes Sagging Skin?

Why Does Skin Lose Volume & Firmness?

Understanding what causes facial aging empowers you to choose treatments that address root causes—and protect your investment long-term.

Restore Skin Volume & Firmness

Facial aging rarely has a single cause—effective treatment addresses both volume depletion and tissue laxity. Our board-certified medical team designs personalized plans combining proven technologies to restore the three-dimensional fullness and lift that define a youthful face.

Dermal Fillers

Instantly restore lost volume and smooth deep folds with precision hyaluronic acid injections that plump cheeks, temples, and under-eyes. Results appear immediately, lasting 12–18 months.

Sculptra

Rebuild structural volume by gradually stimulating your body’s natural collagen production over 2–3 months. Results develop subtly and last over two years—ideal for patients seeking natural, long-lasting rejuvenation.

MINT PDO Thread Lift

Achieve immediate lifting with dissolvable sutures that mechanically reposition sagging tissue while stimulating collagen production. Delivers instant contour improvement with continued enhancement over 12–18 months.

Skin Tightening

Tighten loose, crepey skin through controlled radiofrequency energy that triggers deep collagen and elastin remodeling. Improves firmness, elasticity, and texture with results developing over 2–3 months.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Transform aging skin with fractional CO₂ laser that erases fine lines, tightens laxity, and dramatically improves texture. Our most comprehensive single treatment delivers dramatic, long-lasting results.

Customized Combination Treatments

Maximize results by strategically layering treatments—fillers restore volume, Sculptra builds collagen, RF microneedling tightens skin, and neurotoxins smooth expression lines. This comprehensive approach creates harmonious, natural-looking rejuvenation.

Custom Wrinkle Treatments

Our expert team uses proven, gentle treatments tailored to reduce redness and rosacea symptoms, helping you achieve clearer, calmer skin with lasting results and minimal downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Sagging Skin

What's the difference between volume loss and sagging skin?
Volume loss occurs when facial fat pads shrink and collagen depletes, creating hollowness. Sagging happens when skin loses elasticity and descends. Most aging faces experience both, requiring combination treatments for optimal correction.
Many patients notice early volume loss in their mid-30s to early 40s. Treating early changes prevents more dramatic aging and often requires less intervention than correcting advanced depletion. Your personalized consultation determines optimal timing.
Sculptra delivers the longest-lasting results—over two years—because it stimulates your own collagen production. Thread lifts last 12–18 months; dermal fillers 12–18 months; RF microneedling creates progressive, long-term improvement with maintenance sessions.
When performed by experienced medical professionals using precise technique and appropriate product selection, volume restoration enhances your natural features without creating an overdone appearance. Our philosophy prioritizes subtle, refined results that maintain facial movement and expression.
Absolutely—and combination approaches often produce superior results. For example, fillers restore immediate volume while RF microneedling tightens skin quality; Sculptra builds long-term collagen while threads provide instant lift. We design comprehensive plans addressing multiple aging concerns simultaneously.
Costs vary by treatment type, product amount, and areas treated. Fillers are priced per syringe; Sculptra by vial and session number; thread lifts by thread count and placement; RF treatments per session or area. We provide transparent pricing and customized treatment plans during your consultation.
Cosmetic volume restoration is typically not covered by insurance as it’s elective aesthetic enhancement. However, we offer transparent pricing and flexible financing options to make treatments accessible.

Angel Croce, Staff Manager at Colorado Skin & Vein in Denver

Angel Croce

Staff Manager

Angel has been in healthcare for more than 20 years. Her journey began in 2004, after her father suddenly passed away from a stroke. Losing him was a life-changing experience, and it inspired her to choose a career where she could help others and give patients and their families the care, compassion, and support they need during difficult times.

Throughout her career she has worked across cardiology, neurology, family practice, and urgent care — each experience helping her grow both personally and professionally. She now works in vascular care and aesthetics, where she enjoys building relationships with her patients, helping them understand their care, and making sure they feel comfortable and supported throughout their journey.

Outside of work, Angel is a proud mom of two. Family is incredibly important to her, and in her spare time she loves being outdoors with her husband and their two dogs — hunting, fishing, and enjoying Colorado.

For Angel, healthcare is more than a career — it is personal. What started as a way to honor her father’s memory has become more than two decades of caring for others, and she is grateful to keep doing something that means so much to her every day.
