Dr. David Verebelyi
MEET DR. VEREBELYI
MD, RVT, DABVLM
Dr. David Verebelyi is a nationally recognized vein and laser specialist and the founder of Colorado Skin & Vein. For more than 20 years, his clinical work has focused on diagnosing and treating venous reflux disease, vascular birthmarks, and advanced laser skin conditions using ultrasound-guided techniques and energy-based technologies.
He is board-certified in venous and lymphatic medicine and is one of the few physicians in the region with deep expertise spanning both medical vein treatment and fully ablative CO₂ laser resurfacing. This combined background allows him to treat conditions ranging from leg swelling and symptomatic varicose veins to complex vascular lesions, rosacea, acne scarring, and severe photodamage.
Dr. Verebelyi previously served on the Board of Directors of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and was co-chair and one of the creators of the Fundamentals in Lasers in Health Care course—one of the core physician training programs used nationally to educate doctors entering the field of laser medicine. He has also served as teaching faculty, course designer, and clinical trainer for multiple national educational programs in energy-based procedures.
Under his leadership, Colorado Skin & Vein has been designated a Lumenis Center of Excellence, and he has helped develop physician training modules used internationally for both fully ablative CO₂ resurfacing and fractional laser technologies.
Patients frequently seek his expertise for:
- Varicose veins and venous reflux disease
- Leg swelling, heaviness, fatigue, and restless legs
- Port-wine stains and vascular birthmarks
- Rosacea and facial vascular conditions
- Advanced CO₂ laser resurfacing for wrinkles and acne scars
- Previously unsuccessful or complex vein procedures
In addition to treating routine venous disease and laser conditions, Colorado Skin & Vein functions as a tertiary referral center for complex vascular and laser cases. Dr. Verebelyi frequently evaluates patients whose prior vein procedures or laser treatments did not produce the expected results, including persistent symptoms after ablation, incomplete treatment of venous reflux, difficult vascular birthmarks, and advanced photodamage requiring fully ablative CO₂ resurfacing. Many patients are referred specifically for second opinions or corrective treatment after unsuccessful procedures performed elsewhere.
He also evaluates complex vascular birthmark conditions, including patients with Sturge-Weber syndrome and extensive or previously treated port-wine stains requiring advanced laser strategy and multidisciplinary planning.
Unlike many clinics that treat veins as a secondary service, his practice is built around comprehensive ultrasound mapping of the entire venous system, allowing treatment plans that address the underlying cause of symptoms rather than temporarily masking them.
Dr. Verebelyi has authored multiple publications in laser and surgical journals, delivered national lectures on vascular and laser treatment, and served as a manuscript reviewer for leading procedural dermatology and laser surgery journals. Over the past two decades, he has trained extensively with nearly every major laser manufacturer and has helped shape physician education in energy-based medicine.
In addition to his clinical and teaching work, he serves as an expert consultant in complex medical-legal cases involving cutaneous laser technology, including vascular lasers, hair-removal lasers, IPL therapy, and fully ablative CO₂ resurfacing. He is frequently asked to review cases involving complications, treatment planning decisions, and standards of care in laser medicine.
He is also the inventor of a patented venous compression device system and a two-time recipient of the ASLMS Presidential Award for contributions to physician education in laser medicine.
He completed the Physician CEO Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where his work focused on healthcare strategy and the development of patient centered clinical organizations. This training help refocus Colorado Skin & Vein as a truly patient focused tertiary referral center for complex vascular and laser conditions and in integrating new technologies into patient care.
His clinical approach combines academic-level expertise with practical treatment planning focused on durable correction of disease and meaningful long-term outcomes.
Patient Care Philosophy
Dr. Verebelyi focuses on outcomes that improve both health and confidence—because most patients want their legs to feel better and look better.
He believes the best results come from combining precise medical diagnosis with advanced aesthetic technique. Each consultation is designed to identify the true source of symptoms, explain treatment options clearly, and build a personalized plan using the most effective technologies available.
Patients often arrive after being told their condition was cosmetic, untreatable, or unlikely to improve. His approach emphasizes listening first, mapping the full venous system when needed, and ensuring patients understand why a treatment works—not just what it does.
Just as importantly, the Colorado Skin & Vein team serves as strong patient advocates when insurance barriers interfere with appropriate care. The goal is always the same: the right diagnosis, the right treatment, and the best long-term result.
Dr. Verebelyi treats the whole person—not just the condition.
"After 20 years, what still drives me is seeing patients rediscover activities they thought were lost to them forever. Whether it's a grandmother keeping up with grandchildren or an athlete returning to the trails, these transformations remind me why I chose this field."
