Understanding Skin Tightening

Why Skin Loses Firmness—And How We Fix It

As skin ages, collagen and elastin production slows, causing loss of firmness and elasticity. Weight changes, sun damage, and gravity compound the effects, leaving skin loose or sagging.

Profound RF is the only FDA-cleared radiofrequency microneedling device proven to rebuild skin’s structural foundation. Using ultra-fine needles, it delivers precise, controlled heat deep into the dermis, triggering production of collagen (firmness), elastin (elasticity), and hyaluronic acid (moisture). The result is clinically proven tightening and lifting—often called “the non-surgical facelift.”

With over 20 years of aesthetic treatment experience, Colorado Skin & Vein delivers safe, comfortable, transformative results using cutting-edge technology.

Frequently Asked Questions

skin tightening FAQ

How does radiofrequency skin tightening work?

Profound uses ultra-fine needles to deliver precise radiofrequency energy deep into the dermis. This controlled heat stimulates your body’s natural healing response, triggering the production of new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, which tighten and firm skin over time.

Topical anesthesia is applied before treatment to minimize discomfort. Most patients report feeling pressure and warmth during the procedure, but pain is well-controlled. Post-treatment tenderness is mild and resolves within days.

Results continue to improve for up to 6 months as new collagen develops. Most patients enjoy visible tightening and lifting for 1-2+ years. Annual maintenance treatments help sustain long-term results.

Profound RF effectively treats face, neck, jawline, jowls, abdomen, arms, thighs, buttocks, and areas with cellulite. It’s versatile for both facial rejuvenation and body contouring.

Profound is the only FDA-cleared device proven to stimulate collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in a single treatment. Its precision temperature monitoring ensures optimal results with fewer sessions compared to other technologies.

Initial improvement appears within 2-4 weeks. Results continue to develop over 3-6 months as collagen remodels and skin tightens. Maximum tightening is typically visible at 6 months post-treatment.

Most patients resume normal activities within 1-3 days. Expect redness, swelling, and mild tenderness immediately after treatment. Makeup can be applied after 24 hours. Avoid strenuous exercise for 3-5 days.

Absolutely. Profound RF works with your body’s natural healing process, delivering gradual, natural-looking tightening and lifting. You’ll look refreshed and rejuvenated—never overdone or “pulled.”

Yes. Profound RF is FDA-cleared for cellulite reduction. A single treatment can reduce the appearance of cellulite by up to 50%, with results lasting years.

Angel Croce, Staff Manager at Colorado Skin & Vein in Denver

Angel Croce

Staff Manager

Angel has been in healthcare for more than 20 years. Her journey began in 2004, after her father suddenly passed away from a stroke. Losing him was a life-changing experience, and it inspired her to choose a career where she could help others and give patients and their families the care, compassion, and support they need during difficult times.

Throughout her career she has worked across cardiology, neurology, family practice, and urgent care — each experience helping her grow both personally and professionally. She now works in vascular care and aesthetics, where she enjoys building relationships with her patients, helping them understand their care, and making sure they feel comfortable and supported throughout their journey.

Outside of work, Angel is a proud mom of two. Family is incredibly important to her, and in her spare time she loves being outdoors with her husband and their two dogs — hunting, fishing, and enjoying Colorado.

For Angel, healthcare is more than a career — it is personal. What started as a way to honor her father’s memory has become more than two decades of caring for others, and she is grateful to keep doing something that means so much to her every day.
