While you may have heard of varicose veins, you may not realize that they are actually a symptom of a venous disease. When faulty, damaged, or diseased vein valves don’t function properly, the blood flows backward in the dysfunctional vein.
This condition is called venous reflux disease and can cause symptoms ranging from bulging varicose veins to painful, unsightly leg ulcers. Thankfully, modern technology has developed VenaSeal™, a safe and effective treatment for varicose veins and venous reflux.
VenaSeal™ is a groundbreaking, innovative treatment for varicose veins and venous reflux. This treatment uses medical-grade glue to close the vein without any heat, anesthesia, or irritating solutions. Colorado Skin & Vein is pleased to be one of the first locations in the country to offer this new medical treatment for varicose veins and venous reflux. With just one treatment, you can get rid of these vein issues and be on your way to beautiful, evenly toned, and pain-free legs.

The VenaSeal™ Closure system works by gluing together the walls of the diseased vein. First, a tiny incision is made to access the vein. Next, the medical adhesive is injected into the damaged vein through a small catheter. The vein is compressed in varying intervals to help seal it closed. After only 20 minutes, the vein treatment is complete.
VenaSeal™ improves patient comfort over other vein treatments. It also removes the need for multiple needle sticks and post-procedure compression stockings (though some patients may benefit from using them). Success rates are equal to or even better than other current venous ablation procedures, and patients can even return to normal activities immediately after treatment.
You will feel little to no discomfort during the VenaSeal™ procedure. You will more likely feel a slight sense of pulling or tugging during the treatment.
Since the VenaSeal™ Closure system seals the vein completely, symptoms may improve as soon as the vein is closed. Some symptoms may take up to a few weeks to fully disappear.
Most patients who undergo VenaSeal™ treatment can return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.
With VenaSeal™, you can expect little to no bruising after treatment.
Clinical trials have proven the safety of VenaSeal™. The adhesive is biocompatible, and only a small amount is used to close the vein. Your body will absorb it naturally over time.
VenaSeal™ only requires one incision across the vein that is less than two mm, so there should not be any noticeable scarring after the procedure.
VenaSeal™ is an innovative treatment that is highly recommended for patients who would like to reduce their recovery time and avoid compression stockings. This procedure removes the need for large quantities of anesthesia and multiple needle sticks, reducing pain and bruising after treatment in comparison with other treatments. Another advantage of the VenaSeal™ Closure system is that it removes the risk of a nerve injury that may occur with some thermal treatments for the small saphenous vein (SSV). Our medical staff can advise you on whether VenaSeal™ or another vein procedure is best for your needs.
