What Causes Cellulite?
Cellulite occurs when fibrous bands under the skin adhere to the skin and the underlying muscle. This tethers the skin down and produces dimples. In addition, these bands can trap and accumulate fat, contributing to the uneven appearance of the skin.
These bands often lose their flexibility and become adhered to the skin and muscles as people age. As a result, cellulite is more likely to appear as people grow older. However, it can appear even in young people if they have a tendency to develop this condition.
