Skinceuticals Chemical Peels May Be for You

How Do Chemical Peels Work?
Your skin is incredibly adept at renewing itself, but sometimes, it’s slow or incomplete. Chemical peels help by exfoliating the skin’s surface to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, blemishes, and improving skin tone and texture. They work anywhere the skin has dulled or been damaged. Through a controlled, totally safe micro-injury to your skin’s surface, chemical peels prompt your natural healing abilities and repair photodamage, renewing your skin for a bright, radiant, and even complexion.
Chemical peel solutions vary widely in purpose and strength, and the Colorado Skin & Vein team can determine the clinically proven peel to best suit your needs. The solution dissolves the bonds that bind skin cells to the surface, causing these damaged and dull cells to slough off to reveal the healthier, fresher skin beneath. Our licensed skincare professionals will help restore your glowing new skin to the surface.
Which Chemical Peel is Best for Me?
We have 3 peels to choose from beginning with the Micro Peel, which is perfect if you need only superficial help with firming and refining the skin. Our Pigment Balancing Peel, a medium depth peel, targets mottled or photodamaged skin. The Advanced Corrective Peel is medical grade, designed to go deeper to improve tone and texture for all skin types. Your consultation process will help you determine the best peel for you.

What Is the Treatment like?
Anyone can have a chemical peel, though some patients with sensitive skin should take care with them. We use your skin’s Fitzpatrick type—color, likelihood to burn, and your skincare habits—to determine the peel best suited for you. Even a superficial chemical peel causes a tingling sensation, which subsides when the solution has been neutralized. Deeper peels are more intense and may require numbing cream. Patients who’ve experienced chemical peels before may tolerate stronger peels better than new chemical peel patients.
What Results Can I Expect?*
Our Micro Peel patients may experience some redness and a feeling similar to a mild sunburn, which may last up to 5 days. With Pigment Balancing or Advanced Corrective Peels, there is noticeable redness and swelling, and some skin peeling for 1-2 weeks following your treatment. Your skin will be photosensitive, so sunscreen is imperative following treatment. Once the peel works its magic, you’re left radiant and renewed, with a fresh, even complexion you’ll love.
