JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC injectable gel is the latest FDA-approved addition to the JUVÉDERM® filler collection. JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC became available to patients in October of 2016, and provides instant results in:

  • Correcting and softening perioral lines
  • Augmenting the lips

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a protein that our skin produces naturally. It helps give skin volume and retain moisture. As our skin ages, it contains less hyaluronic acid, and this is one of the many factors that contributes to aging.

JUVÉDERM® HA fillers help combat wrinkles and volume loss related to facial aging. JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is a JUVÉDERM® product formulated with VYCROSS®. This filler blends different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, which contributes to the gel’s duration. VYCROSS® yields smooth results that facilitate subtle volume enhancement for the lips.

JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC injectable gel is thinner than other types of fillers so that more precise and subtle results can be achieved. With VYCROSS®, JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC can produce soft, smooth-looking subtle lip enhancement and effective softening of lines around the lips.

Most patients who desire lip enhancement want subtle, smooth-looking results. Now, with JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC, such results are possible and can enhance lip fullness for up to one year. This new filler also provides a solution for patients who are bothered by lines around their lips. These perioral lines (perioral rhytids) have been difficult to treat in the past, but with the FDA’s approval of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC, these lines can now be softened and minimized. JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC has been proven to soften lines around the mouth in most patients for up to one year.

Is JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC safe for use?

JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as safe for use in adults over the age of 21. Its safety has also been demonstrated in multiple clinical trials. As with all skin injection treatments, there are some unlikely risks that can be discussed with you during your free consultation.

What are the side effects of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC?

Temporary side effects of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC include swelling, tenderness, pain, bruising, redness, firmness, lumps, discoloration, and itching. All of these occur at the treatment site. Side effects are typically mild or moderate and last less than 30 days.

How many treatments will I need?

JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is effective after one treatment, and results can last for one year before a touch-up treatment is necessary. For optimal correction of perioral lines, patients can choose to undergo a touch-up treatment at one month after the initial treatment.

How quickly will I see the results?

The results of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC injections are immediate. Mild swelling may occur but typically resolves in a few days. We prefer conservative, natural-looking results, but we can inject more JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC later if desired.

What should I expect for the treatment?

Laura Carlsen or Danielle Koontz, our aesthetic registered nurse injectors, will inject your JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC. Just before your treatment, photos will be taken, and the treatment area will be cleansed. Our nurses are highly experienced in performing facial injections, and nearly all patients report minimal or no pain. The entire treatment normally takes 20 minutes, after which patients can return to daily activities.
