How Long Does Laser Tattoo Removal Take?

Aug 03, 2020
A tattoo is an empowering act of self-expression. However, your tastes and ideas can change. We, at Colorado Skin & Vein, often see patients reach out for laser tattoo removal because they feel the ink doesn’t represent who they are anymore.

A tattoo is an empowering act of self-expression. However, your tastes and ideas can change. We, at Colorado Skin & Vein, often see patients reach out for laser tattoo removal because they feel the ink doesn’t represent who they are anymore.

We appreciate that along with the decision to remove your ink, you may be worried about how long the laser tattoo removal process can take. If you have done your research, you have probably discovered that getting rid of unwanted ink takes much longer than it did to get on your skin. As a Fellow of the American Society of Laser Surgery and MedicineDr. Verebelyi uses some of the most advanced technologies for laser tattoo removal. That’s why our practice is one of the few exclusive spots in the U.S. to use Lumenis® PiQo4 laser technology to speed up the removal process.

About Laser Tattoo Removal

The laser energy penetrates the skin to shatter the ink into smaller particles, which can be eliminated by the skin. Removing a tattoo is a process that may require multiple appointments, depending on the size and shape of your tattoo. After each session, your skin needs time to heal from the laser exposure. As a result, removing large and colorful tattoos would typically take several months up to over a year.

Here at Colorado Skin & Vein, we’re proud to be one of the few to provide the most advanced Lumenis® PiQo4 laser technology for our patients, which removes tattoos four times quicker than the next most advanced laser technology.

Unlike other laser technologies, Lumenis® PiQo4 offers fast results thanks to its larger spot size and quicker pulse duration. The PiQo4 causes less damage to the skin; hence you can benefit from quick healing periods and move on to the next appointment rapidly. Plus, the control over the spot size, energy, and pulse allows extra precision for most sensitive areas and troublesome tattoos.

How Many Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments Will You Need?

How many laser tattoo removal appointments you need depends on your tattoo – size, depth of ink penetration, age, ink density.

But Lumenis® PiQo4 is the most advanced laser on the market. Ink pigment particles are broken using picosecond pulses, a more successful approach to reducing scarring and skin discomfort while improving ink removal abilities. The PiQo4 laser tattoo removal process at Colorado Skin & Vein tackles pain anxiety, too, as the treatment can be customized to keep discomfort to a minimum. For many patients who are worried about pain, a lengthy removal procedure means they will have to endure the pain for longer. This is something we work to avoid as much as possible. With Lumenis® PiQo4 technology, small tattoos can be successfully removed in only a couple of treatments.

Am I a Candidate for Laser Tattoo Removal?

The PiQo4 laser is a suitable solution for all tattoos, including colorful tattoos, those that have not responded well to previous laser tattoo removal procedures, facial tattoos, and permanent makeup.

Additionally, Lumenis® PiQo4 technology can also be used to treat skin conditions such as pigmented lesion and brown scarring, making it one of the safest alternatives for tattoo removal on most skin types.
