CryoShape™ Treatment For Scars

Scars come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and while some are virtually unnoticeable, others can be very evident. In particular, keloid and hypertrophic scars tend to be the worst of all types because they grow above the skin. Although they are harmless, they can be annoyingly itchy and tender to the touch as well. While procedures used to excise these scars in the past were invasive and uncomfortable, an innovative technique has been developed to better eliminate them.

Known as CryoShape™, this cosmetic treatment safely and effectively reduces keloid scars by using a special probe that administers cold directly to the cells of the scar. Approved by the FDA, this treatment can be performed on individuals of all ages.

To find out if you are a candidate for CryoShape™, schedule your consultation with Dr. Verebelyi today.

How Is CryoShape™ Performed?

A CryoShape™ treatment can be completed in about an hour and involves just three easy steps:

  1. Local anesthetic is administered (eases patient discomfort)
  2. Probe is inserted directly into the scar
  3. Liquid nitrogen is administered to the keloid cells

Is a Recovery Period Needed?

Once the CryoShape™ treatment is finished, patients are free to leave the office and return to normal activities. However, it is recommended that a day of rest be taken before resuming strenuous physical activities.

When Will the Results Become Apparent?

CryoShape™ begins destroying cells in the scar the moment treatment is complete and will continue to do so over the coming weeks. After just one session, a noticeable reduction in the size and appearance of the scar can be expected. While just one treatment can provide noticeable improvements, multiple treatments may be needed in order to achieve the best results.
