Scar Revision

Many of us have scars, whether they are from acne, an injury, or a surgical procedure. Each person and each injury heals differently, but if your scars bother you, scar revision treatment can improve their appearance.

Scar revision uses a variety of techniques to improve the appearance of scars. While people form different types of scars, Colorado Skin & Vein offers treatments to address all of them. From steroid injections to laser treatments, we have the tools to help you feel more comfortable with the appearance of your scar.

LEARN MORE ABOUT SCAR REVISION

What Is Scar Revision?

Modern scar revision uses a unique combination of procedures to achieve a new level of cosmetic and functional results. Scars due to acne, burns, surgery, or trauma all respond well to current therapies. Effective treatments usually combine multiple techniques to remove damaged tissue and promote the growth of new, more organized tissue. Dr. Verebelyi creates individualized treatment plans, optimized so you receive the best results possible.

How Do You Treat Raised Scars?

STEROID INJECTIONS

A combination of steroids and other factors are injected on a weekly basis, normally over a four to eight-week period, to reduce the thickness of the scars. Steroid injections are typically used to soften scarring in preparation for laser treatments.

PULSED DYE LASER

This laser uses light energy directed into the scar to soften and break down tissue. Damaged tissue is removed by the body, and new collagen is produced for a smoother, more even appearance.

CRYOSHAPE™

This treatment freezes keloid scars from the inside out to damage scar tissue, which is then naturally removed by the body. It softens and improves the appearance of thick, raised scars.

How Do You Treat Depressed Scars?

SUBCISION

Underlying scar tissue in the skin and fat is broken up, preventing the scar from being held down. Releasing scar tissue improves the appearance of depressed scars.

CO₂ LASER

Columns of controlled energy are directed into the scar, stimulating the production of new collagen. The increase of collagen fills in depressions in the skin and smooths the appearance of depressed scars.

How Do You Treat Discolored Scars?

PULSED DYE LASER

Energy directed into the scar affects the melanin in damaged cells that causes discoloration. New cells replace the damaged ones, restoring your natural skin color.

CO₂ LASER

The energy of the laser stimulates new melanin production to help repigment scars and restore their natural color.

CRYOSHAPE™

Works within the scar to treat damaged, discolored tissue while sparing the healthy surrounding skin.
